 Hey, Edupreneurs & Changemakers!

I’m Deidra Fogarty, but you can call me Dee!

As an unapologetic Jamaican-American (ask about me!), I’ve been using my platform over the last five years to tell it like it is and disrupt the current state of education. My goal has always been to stop complaining about the problems and use my expertise to create practical solutions instead - even if it means risking it all.

Because the truth is - your school leaders, parents, or colleagues can’t block your impact or income when you have the expertise and motivation to build an engaged, supportive community through authentic, solution-focused content.

Ask me how I know.

Teaching is in my blood. I’ve worked in education for over 15 years in various capacities. My resume includes roles as a 2nd, 5th, and 6th-grade teacher, Literary Coach, Assistant Principal, and Special Education teacher for seven schools throughout the Maryland and Washington, DC area. Today, I’m a full-time entrepreneur with two successful businesses, a flourishing membership community, multiple group coaching programs, and hundreds of professional development curation and trainings under my belt.

Being confident and brave enough to pursue entrepreneurship in education is a form of resistance and social justice.

I’ll be honest; there was a time in my career when I felt the only choice was to play the game and be silent to avoid being blackballed and labeled a “problem” teacher (that didn’t work for long). So, I did what was necessary during the day, poured into my students, and used my downtime to quietly develop solutions to the problems I witnessed as an educator:

Lack of communities that support and cultivate the unique teaching perspectives, practices, and experiences of Black women educators.

Solution —> Black Girls Teach - A collaborative, empowering platform offering a safe space for Black women educators and socially-conscious allies to learn, grow, and develop the skills necessary to navigate the challenges of education

Lack of access to culturally diverse children’s books.

Solution —> WAM! Book Bundle - Providing culturally diverse children's books for parents and schools. Additionally, WAM! Book Bundle curates diverse text sets and custom libraries for schools to ensure children's books serve as windows and mirrors.

Lack of specialized guidance for current and former educators with expertise looking to start or grow a business through the power of social media.

Solution—> Teach Me Dee -  A coaching business dedicated to providing education's changemakers, disruptors, and innovators with the clarity, strategy, and tools to position themselves online and lay the foundation for their entrepreneurial journey.

Make no Mistake…

I’m a triple threat in education, business, and social media, and I’ve used my expertise to help countless women kill it in their careers and businesses!

“In July of 2020, I started my teacher Instagram page because of what Dee said on one of her IG Lives. She challenged educators to start betting on themselves and I did. I started playing around with Canva and creating posts. The only intentions that I had were to connect with other educators and post pictures of my classroom. Little did I know that I was about to go on a journey.

I was able to start positioning myself using IG primarily because of Deidra's tips and insight. Over the past few months, I noticed a hugely significant increase in overall engagement. Using her strategies, I have been able to gain clarity and skills to support my social media journey.

Anyone that is interested in growing their social media platform should definitely tap into BGT! Her expertise is beyond valuable. Her insight has helped me in more ways than I can put into words. I am so grateful for the opportunity to work with Deidra.”

I want you to experience the same success.

The simple fact is - you don’t have to undermine your knowledge, skills, and experiences when you control the bag. You don’t have to turn a blind eye and pretend not to see what’s happening in education when you can use your platform as a catalyst for change. And you don’t have to struggle alone to create quality content that positions you as an authority, increases your visibility, and gets you paid

Let me teach you how to confidently maneuver social media and grow your business as the expert you already are!

When I’m not busy empowering Edupreneurs + Changemakers, you can find me…

Drinking a fresh cup of coffee to start my day.

Getting my fill of fruit snacks.

Taking advantage of afternoon naps.

Laying on a beach or hanging at the pool with a pina colada in one hand and my favorite book in the other!

Listen, you have two choices: Stay in the safe zone or stand out by showing up and betting on yourself.

It’s time to walk it like you talk it, sis!
